While it may sound like a cliche, it’s the literal truth: The career of Lt. Col. Marla Gaskill has taken flight.
Gaskill, a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, was honored by the Ohio State Patrol on International Women’s Day in March as the first and only female Ohio State Highway Patrol Pilot, but also the first female Lt. Col. And it’s that career as a patrol pilot that has her career soaring.
Lt. Col. Kevin Teaford of the Ohio State Patrol said, “Lt. Col. Marla Gaskill plays a vital role in the senior management team within the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Not many put in as much work or put in longer days than Marla. Her work ethic is undoubtedly a result of the hard work she established growing up on a farm.
